Rock n Roll is a musical genre that has been around for a long time especially the people who keep it alive. Muddy WatersBy 1951 he had a band with Otis Spann with piano, little water on harmonica and little richard on second guitar and Elgin Elvis being the drummer. They were popular in New Orleans, Chicago, and the delta region in the united states. In 1958 they went to perform in England. In 1971 he won a grammy award for the album they call me muddy. He died in 1983 by a heart attack in april 30. His biggest influences was on the rolling stones because they got their name from one of Muddy waters songs Rolling Stone. What makes him unique is the fact is he was playing the blues but played it like rock n roll. I choose Muddy Waters because he was a lot of other rock n roll bands influences and inspirations. In 1952 Chuck berry joined club band in favor of the blues for a club in a club called Cosmopolitan club. It is where is signature dance, the duck walk intrigued the audience. After the success of Maybellene over the next half decade he made the songs, “Roll Over Beethoven”, “Too much monkey business”, “Johnny B. Goode” and much more. The youth loved Chuck Berry. His biggest influence was the Beatles. He was unique because of his songs, his energy, the duck walk his bass guitar. It was like magic when he performed on stage. I choose this Chuck Berry because he is like the father of rock and roll to me so inspirational to me. There was Johnny B Goode, Browned eyed handsome man and Maybellene. Twisted sister began in 1972, there theatrics come from the band kiss. Twisted sister had iconic music videos of the early MTV years. Combine the 1970s glam rock and 1980s hard rock they thought they would have a long run but it didn’t happen. However with the huge album and the image that is known. Twisted sister caught the the teenage rebellion no matter what era. What made them unique is the iconic songs and videos they made clean and cartoonish. I choose this band because I like twisted sister a lot and the videos are my favorite.The songs I’m referring to as we’re not gonna take it, under the blade and I wanna rock. They contribute because of the music video and went to court with Tipper Al gore’s organization, the parent music appreciation rights for being on the dirty 15.Queen’s origin goes back to 1967 when guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor joined singer, Tim Staffell called Smile. Tim soon left so he could go solo. The two met and teamed up with Freddie Mercury, who is a guitarist and eventually, John deacon, a bassist. They had a few gigs avoiding club crickets practicing or rehearsing for 2 years while they were in college. Then they began touring in 1973 when there debut album was released. Heavy metal fans loved Queen and one of Night of the opera songs, Bohemian Rhapsody. The song stayed number 1 in England for nine weeks. There influences were deep purple, Led Zeppelin and David Bowie to name a few. What makes them unique is the classic songs and mercury’s voice. I choose this band because how iconic this band was. Referring to the songs Bohemian Rhapsody, another one bites the dust, and somebody to love just to name a few. Because of there songs they contribute to rock n roll pretty well.Since white flight took place only African Americans lived in housing projects and bad neighborhoods. The genre funk was created so there hopes can be alive. James Brown helped did that with his energy and his powerful voice. He was different forms of media with movies appearances such a cameo in rocky IV and the blues brothers to name a couple. His influences were gospel, blues, and African American folk. I choose James brown because to me he was a legend with his energy and his powerful voice. Living in america, superbad, and “I feel good”.Michael Jackson was no doubt the king of pop but it all started with the Jackson 5 and group by Michael’s father. Michael was the lead singer in the group. Later on his life he went solo and became the first single artist to have top ten singles. Eventually he made the album thriller which made him into the king of pop. He’s influences were James brown Jackie Wilson and many others. I choose Michael Jackson because of how inspirational, i mean he’s the king of pop! Referring to The album thriller, and off the wall. It was because of his songs his iconic dance Before They were called Green day, Billie Armstrong, the singer and Mike Dirnt, who was the drummer. They grew up in Rodeo, California, they both formed their band “Sweet Children”. When they were 17 they recorded as Green Day Signing the The punk record label, “Look out”. Eventually Green Day’s album, “Kerplunk” became its most successful independent releases . They resigned with “Reprize” and took there punk level to the max and there album, “Dookie” won them a Grammy award. An album called, “Cigarettes and Valentines” was almost complete was stolen instead of rerecording them they made the concepts album, “American Idiot”. After hurricane Katrina Green Day teamed up with U2 to fund money for the survivors. There musical influences were punk rock when they were kids. I choose this band because its songs that they make are so awesome. Dookie, American idiot, when I come around, I walk alone.The Police released there punk debut “Outlanders d’Amour” in 1978. Then signed with “A.M. Records. The Police’s single Roxanne was a big hit Europe. Due with all the success the members would try new things. On another sting released his first solo album, “The dream of the blue turtles”. Then the police broke up and seek to there own adventures but sting had the most success. What made unique and inspiring to me was the music they made. I choose them because I’m not sure one person has ever talked about the police., “Roxanne”, “Every breath you take”. They contribute to rock n roll because they play rock n roll. Nickelback was formed in Toronto Canada. There was some mixed feeling with some of their albums however the single, “Hero” one of the songs from Toby Maguire’s Spider-Man. Eventual in Canada they were number one in the musical boards and number 2 in the U.S. It was the songs that made them so unique. I choose this band because they are a big influence on me when I was younger. They contribute to rock n roll because they were playing Rock n Roll and the message or the theme can also contribute to Rock n Roll.2pac started with being a dancer with digital underground eventually he solo and signed a contract for death row, a record company. 2pac meet biggie smalls or notorious b.i.g and would become friends but all of that change when 2pac went to visit biggie then he got shot and didn’t know who to trust and thought biggie ha something to do with him getting shot. Then 2pac made the diss track called hit em up. 2pac went to Las Vegas for a mike Tyson fight. On the way to the hotel 2pac was shot by a drive by. He died later that night. His influences were funk artist such as James brown and Jackie Wilson and many others. It made him unique because he spoke about what he saw on the streets. Referring to songs, keep ya head up, wonder if heaven got a ghetto, and do for love. It was because of 2pac speaking the truth and he made an impact on all people because of his message and became the greatest rapper of all time.Honestly I’m not sure what’s next, maybe a new genre will come up and the old generation will like it or hate it. The new generation of music will look hateful to the old generation, cool to the new generation. The past will always have an impact no matter what it will affect because there is the old generation will still listen to old generation music.
