Parkinson’s disease
Parkinson’s disease is a disease in the nervous system that affects the movements. This is one of the disease that can be difficult to cure aside from other diseases such as multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and Alzheimer disease.
There are number of people who are well-known to have had this disease and one of them is Michael J. Fox. He is an actor, also a television actor, producer and activist. He was first widely known for his role in the “Sitcom Family ties.” One of his famous films is “Back to the Future” and the tv series “Teen Wolf.”
Although people know him they did not know about his disease which is Parkinson’s disease. He was diagnosed with the disease in 1981. In 1998 upon “disclosing” his condition, Michael J. Fox announced his retirement from “Spin City.” He told his fellow cast that “it was time to stay away from the demands of weekly series.” He devoted himself to a campaign for Parkinson’s research. He later on launched the Michael J. Fox foundation for Parkinson’s research with a mission to search for a cure to the disease.
According to New York Times this is “The most credible voice of Parkinson’s research in the world.” Although he was able to launched and this has given a lot of help and was able to make millions of dollars the cure for the disease is not yet found. Until this day Michael J. Fox still continues his fight with the disease and is still helping other people with the campaign that he has made.
