In profits, as this would result in them cutting

In this part of the assignment, we will be discussing about
the business issues relating to child labour. All businesses that operate
within the UK or outside should always make sure that they are enforcing the
child labour law. Businesses main goal should not always be to maximise their
profits, as this would result in them cutting corners, by hiring children.  All children should be protected from
economic exploitation, as they should be protected from any hazardous
substances and carrying out any work that is going to interfere with the
child’s education.(Eric,2005) Furthermore, there have been complaints that big
businesses like Primark, Apple and H are taking advantage of children in
third world countries and are using them a work slaves.

The international labour organisation has set minimal
standards that should be right for every worker, around the world. Despite being
laws and regulation, there are still some countries that try to avoid following
them. Developing countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan, face the most child
labour as there is no help from the government to provide poor families with
good education. Within these and many more countries, children are being used
as assets to make money in the time of poverty. One of the main causes for
child labour is parents, due to their age or medical reasons, they will force
children to work. Therefore, this gives the opportunity for big business to
hire children as they will be paid less. In 2013, it had been reported by the guardian
that apple had been using children in many of their factories in china to assemble
the iPhone. They revealed that around 74 children under the age of 16 had been
working there. The report had also uncovered that these children had been
working under forged papers. While this is the case for some big companies, there
are other companies that are avoiding this kind of route to protect their reputation
of the business.

Overall, businesses that are using child labour should be
punished severely. Punishing one business would make other businesses think
twice of breaking the law and hire children to work for them. When businesses
stop or don’t use child labour not are they only getting a better reputation, but
it also strengthens partnerships.
