classroom functions as a learning management system towards the paperless
world. This technology is helpful for the teaching learning community of
academic institutions. It provides opportunities to
connect the people without any time barrier. Google Classroom is a free collaboration
tool for teachers and students. Teachers can create an online classroom and
invite students to the class, and then create and distribute assignments, notes
etc. Within the Google Classroom students and teachers can have conversations
about the assignments and the teachers can track the student’s progress and can
also evaluate the students performance by awarding credits. Under
the Google Classroom app, students and teachers have access to features that
are not found in personal Google accounts. For example, in Forms, teachers can
add images, descriptive questions, multiple choice questions etc. The Gmail
Inbox has these messages grouped in Inbox, which is easier for teachers and
students to find important updates and highlights. Also, the Classroom tool
lets teachers organize the class stream by adding topics to posts, and teachers
and students can filter the stream for specific topics. Students can be invited
to classes through the
institution’s database, through a private code, or be automatically imported
from a school domain.

Google Classroom is a learning management system developed by Google for schools that aim to
simplify creating, distributing and grading assignments in a paperless way. It
was introduced as a feature of G Suite for Education on May 6, 2014, followed
by its public release on August 12, 2014. Google has already made a large impact on
education with its Google Apps for Education (GAFE), which
includes Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets, Google Calendars, and a diverse
array of other apps easily utilized by schools. Now Google is introducing
Google Classroom, a technology in
the classroom app designed to provide a single dashboard to unify
instructors’ use of other Google apps. Google classroom is a free collaboration
tool for teachers and students. Teachers can create online classroom invites
students to the class then create and distribute the assignments and track the student’s
progress. Classroom makes it easy for teachers and students to connect inside
and outside of the campus. Google Classroom’s purpose is to facilitate
paperless communication between teachers and students and streamline
educational workflow. Classroom allows teachers to create classes, post
assignments, organize folders, and view work in real-time. One of the best
features is that Classroom is fully integrated with all other Google apps, so
students and teachers can share information with one another instantaneously
instead of having to hop through various hurdles to submit work.

Shampa Iftakhar (2016), In his study “GOOGLE
CLASSROOM: WHAT WORKS AND HOW?”, the researcher suggested that a virtual
classroom is an online classroom that allows participants to communicate with
one another, view presentations or videos, interact with other participants,
and engage with resources in work groups. The very recent addition to virtual c3lassroom
is Google Classroom. Google has announced Classroom in May 2014 as a new tool
in Google Apps for Education. More than 30 teachers of Daffodil International
University have started using Google classroom from September 2014. The purpose
of this study is to report the overall view of Google classroom adopted in the
different classes. This paper presents brief features of Google Classroom.
Roger’s theory of diffusion of innovation has been used a theoretical frame
work for this paper. In addition, some adoption factors (such as
organizational, social, personal and technological) have been reassessed for
the research purpose. The research questions are a) What factors influence
teacher to use Google Classroom? b) How does teacher use Google Classroom in
their teaching? c) What are the barriers to use Google Classroom? D) What are
students’ responses to the Google Classroom? The analysis of the results of the
questionnaire indicate that this study can be effective in understanding and
evaluating teachers’ and learners’ perceptive to ensure quality teaching and
learning through Google classroom. This study also presents some new evidence
on the potential of Google classrooms in teaching. Finally, some suggestions
regarding the expectations of the learners were also provided for the teachers
of the different disciplines who wish to use Google Classroom.

2. Kathleen M. DiCicco (2016): “The effects of Google
Classroom on teaching social studies for students with learning disabilities”: The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of Google
Classroom on teaching social studies for student with learning disabilities.
Six 7th graders with learning disabilities, attending a resource classroom
participated in the study. A single subject design with ABC phases was used to evaluate
their learning outcomes in both areas of knowledge of content and vocabulary
words. During the baseline, students were taught with the traditional way of
using textbooks. During the intervention, students were required to complete
various assignments using Google Classroom daily for 9 weeks and were assessed
by unit tests and vocabulary quizzes using the Google Classroom. A survey was
given to the students and teachers to evaluate their perspectives about the
integration of Google Classroom into social studies instruction. The results
showed that all students increased their vocabulary quiz scores PREVIEW but
limited in their content knowledge.
